I NEVER SAW ANOTHER BUTTERFLY
Size Framed: 530 x 710mm
Medium: Ink and cardboard paper
In high school, I visited Theresienstadt concentration camp in Prague as part of an art tour. Children made artworks depicting their hopes and dreams of returning home. There was a poem called ‘The Butterfly’ by Pavel Friedman that ended with the idea that there were no butterflies in the ghetto. To me that signified the loss of hope. This work represents our Heritage as a nation that even in dark times- there is always hope!
