Understand what Ohel Sarala is and how it works
Over the past decade many singles have had a hard time finding their match. Community leaders have spent hundreds of hours in discussion trying to find viable solutions to this troubling issue. Now Ohel Sarala, named after Sarala Ginzberg, serves as discreet connector between singles and childless couples.
The results of the Ohel Sarala initiative speak for themselves. The combined efforts and tefillas of these two seemingly disparate groups have yielded miraculous results. Since 2016, over 163 single men and women have got married, and 44 children have been born to couples who were struggling with the pain of infertility.
The Ohel Sarala initiative is being brought to South Africa by The Malka Ella Fertility Fund with the hope of not only changing the lives and facilitating marriages but creating lives. Based on the words of Chazal, the tefillos davened through this program for other are heartfelt and Hashem is listening.
The Ohel Sarala process is as follows:
- Hebrew names of the husband and wife yearning for a child of their own are given to a single.
- In return the couple receives the name of a single longing to build a home.
- They daven for each other.
- The single donates any amount that they are capable of to the Malka Ella Fertility Fund which will be used towards medical expenses needed by the couple. All names given are completely confidential and only Hebrew names are shared.
