RAINY DAY AT THE KOTEL

Size Framed: 645 x 950mm
Medium: Ink, gesso and sheet music on canvas

In this artwork, the artist portrays the strong sense of community that is deeply engrained in Jewish heritage. The Kotel, a significant Jewish symbol, is depicted in the rain because just as rain has both positive and pessimistic connotations, community unites and connects through both hardship and joy. The Tehillim phrases in the artwork prayer convey the support of prayer during challenging times. The artist used liquid-earthy ink to suggest the movement of rain, the ballpoint pen accentuates the details of the scene, and the sheet music background provides texture and alludes to the songs of David in the prayers on Tehillim.
