In this artwork, the artist depicts the lighting of candles which ushers in the Sabbath, the Jewish day of rest which occurs each week starting at sunset on Friday until sunset on Saturday. This serves to remind the Jewish people of the story of creation from the Torah, where God created the world in 6 days and rested on the 7th.
