Desiree Cohen was born in Zimbabwe in 1944 and came to live in Johannesburg in 2013. While Desiree has no formal art training, she joined the Janet Pollack Studio where she worked for 7 years and then during the Covid pandemic she set up an art studio in her home. She has a great love and passion for art, especially abstract art and works with acrylic paints on canvas. Desiree does not start a piece of work with a particular subject in mind but rather finds it exciting to play with colour, texture and collage and painting eventually becomes an adventure, totally absorbing and slowly evolving into its final form.
