About this piece
In The Altar, the artist explores the persistence of religious tradition through the realities of lived experience. Rather than depicting an idealized Shabbat table, the work focuses on its messy aftermath—the remnants of a meal shared with family, friends, and God. Through this imagery, the artist suggests that the endurance of religion lies not in perfection, but in the effort, connection, and everyday moments that bring tradition to life across generations.
