In Fortune Cookie Slightly Charred, the artist explores the interplay between fate, chance, and the meaning we create from life’s unexpected experiences. Inspired by the promise of a fortune cookie, the artwork suggests that wisdom often emerges through imperfection and life’s unforeseen detours. Created through an intuitive process of layering, obscuring, and revealing, fragments of colour and form appear and disappear, reflecting the way understanding is often gained only in retrospect. Rather than offering certainty, the painting invites viewers to embrace ambiguity, trust the journey, and recognise that even life’s imperfect moments can reveal hope, insight, and unexpected possibility.
