CROWN

Size Framed: 1115 x 860mm
Medium: Mixed media

In this artwork, the artist depicts that the transmission of our Jewish heritage, culture, and conceptual understanding of the world is facilitated through the Torah. Each week the Torah scroll is displayed in the synagogue adorned with a silver crown. Much like royalty that are crowned as a sign of their kingship, the crown on the Torah represents the respect and importance that the Torah holds in daily Jewish life. This artwork is drawn on a page from the machzor, the prayer book that we use on Rosh Hashana, to link the value and respect that the Torah holds and prayer through which we coronate Hashem as our king.
