In Burnt Toast, the artist draws inspiration from the Burnt Toast Theory—the idea that life’s disappointments and unexpected delays may ultimately lead to unseen opportunities or protect us from outcomes beyond our control. Dense passages of black and earthy neutrals, while flashes of orange, coral, and white emerge as symbols of hope, resilience, and possibility. The intuitive process of layering, covering, and revealing, the artwork mirrors the way meaning often becomes clear only with time and perspective.
