About this piece
In Candlesticks, the artist draws inspiration from Yochin and Boaz, the two great pillars that stood at the entrance of King Shlomo’s Beit HaMikdash. Rather than focusing on the light of the Shabbos candles, the artwork celebrates the woman of the home as a pillar of strength, stability, and spiritual foundation. The candlesticks are rooted firmly while reaching upward, elaborately decorated using patterns from actual herbs and leaves to emphasise the depths, layers, talents, and nurturing qualities of womanhood. Created through a multi-sensory process, the natural herbs infused the work with fragrance, while the graceful forms of the candlesticks subtly echo the female figure, uniting femininity, resilience, and faith within a single symbolic composition.
