Shayna, is a Johannesburg based artist and researcher, has a degree in Fine Arts, and is currently working on her Masters in Geography. Shayna was selected as a top 100 artist in the Sasol New Signatures Competition and has worked with BMW Group South Africa. Shayna has exhibited her work, with some of her pieces being acquired for private collections. Shayna’s work focuses on the politics of the representation of land and landscape in South Africa, with a specific focus in mining. She uses the aesthetic impact of the mining industry to unpack a much deeper violence that becomes a part of the everyday.
