Lynda Ballen is a Johannesburg based artist. She also has extensive experience as a visual educator for over five decades. At the heart of her own practice is a commitment to the materiality of art materials and the processes of physically manipulating them meaningfully. She works with drawing, painting, printmaking and papermaking. Ballen has exhibited since the 1980’s. She has works in major South African Art Collections (Iziko South African National Gallery and the Pretoria Art Museum). Ballen has a B.A. Fine Arts (University of the Witwatersrand) and an M.A. Art Education (New York University).
